Description

The Assistant Baker & Pastry supports the daily production of breads, pastries, desserts, and baked goods. This role assists with preparation, baking, finishing, and presentation while maintaining high standards of quality, hygiene, and consistency. The position is ideal for someone passionate about baking and eager to develop professional pastry skills in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in the preparation and baking of breads, pastries, cakes, desserts, and other baked items
Measure, weigh, and prepare ingredients according to recipes and production schedules
Support mixing, shaping, proofing, baking, filling, glazing, and decorating products
Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, equipment, and storage areas
Follow food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards at all times
Assist with inventory checks, stock rotation, and proper storage of ingredients
Help with packaging, labeling, and display of finished products
Monitor baking times and temperatures under supervision
Support senior bakers and pastry chefs with daily tasks and special orders
Comply with workplace safety procedures and company policies

Required Skills & Qualifications

Basic knowledge of baking and pastry techniques
Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately
Strong attention to detail and consistency
Willingness to learn and take feedback
Good time management and ability to work under pressure
Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift baking trays or ingredients
Team-oriented with a positive attitude

Preferred Qualifications

Certificate or diploma in baking, pastry, or culinary arts
Previous experience in a bakery, pastry kitchen, hotel, or restaurant
Familiarity with commercial baking equipment

Working Conditions

Early morning, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts may be required
Fast-paced kitchen environment with exposure to heat, ovens, and mixers
