Description

A Rig Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting mechanical equipment used in oil and gas drilling operations.

Key Responsibilities

Inspect, maintain, and repair rig equipment such as engines, pumps, compressors, and generators

Perform preventive maintenance to ensure smooth rig operations

Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out necessary repairs

Maintain drilling equipment including drawworks, mud pumps, and rotary systems

Ensure all machinery operates safely and efficiently

Replace worn or damaged parts

Keep maintenance records and report issues to supervisors

Follow safety procedures and company standards at all times

Requirements

Diploma or technical certification in mechanical engineering or a related field

3–5 years of experience in oil & gas drilling operations

Good knowledge of rig equipment and mechanical systems

Ability to read technical manuals and drawings

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Physically fit and able to work in harsh environments

Preferred Skills

Experience with offshore or onshore drilling rigs

Familiarity with hydraulic and pneumatic systems

Basic knowledge of welding and fabrication
