Job Summary

We are looking for a competent and detail-oriented Electrical Engineer to design, develop, test, and oversee the installation and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment. The successful candidate will work on projects ranging from power distribution and lighting design to low-voltage systems, ensuring all work complies with safety standards, codes, and client specifications.

Key Responsibilities
Design & Engineering
Design electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, low-voltage, fire alarm, and emergency power systems for new and retrofit projects.
Prepare single-line diagrams, schematic drawings, panel schedules, cable schedules, and load calculations.
Perform electrical load calculations, voltage drop analysis, short-circuit studies, and cable sizing.
Select and specify electrical equipment such as transformers, switchgear, panels, generators, UPS systems, and protective devices.
Ensure designs comply with local and international codes and standards (e.g., NEC, IEC, IEEE, NFPA 70/70E).
Project Execution & Site Supervision
Review shop drawings and material submittals from contractors and vendors.
Supervise and inspect electrical installation works on-site to ensure compliance with approved designs and specifications.
Coordinate with civil, mechanical, and other MEP disciplines to avoid design clashes and ensure smooth project execution.
Conduct site inspections, quality checks, and testing during construction and installation phases.
Testing & Commissioning
Develop and execute testing and commissioning procedures for electrical systems (e.g., insulation resistance testing, continuity testing, functional testing).
Witness and document factory acceptance tests (FAT) and site acceptance tests (SAT).
Troubleshoot and resolve electrical faults during commissioning and handover.
Prepare commissioning reports, as-built drawings, and O&M manuals.
Maintenance & Support
Provide technical support for operational electrical systems, including fault diagnosis and repair.
Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for electrical equipment.
Monitor system performance and recommend upgrades or energy-efficiency improvements.
Respond to emergency electrical issues and ensure timely resolution.
Documentation & Compliance
Prepare technical reports, calculations, specifications, and project documentation.
Ensure all designs and installations meet health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations.
Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, and equipment maintenance.
Liaise with regulatory authorities and utility providers as required.
Project & Stakeholder Coordination
Collaborate with architects, consultants, contractors, and clients throughout the project lifecycle.
Provide technical guidance to junior engineers, technicians, and site staff.
Prepare cost estimates, material take-offs (BOQ), and tender documentation.
Support procurement by reviewing vendor proposals and technical compliance.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Experience
2–6+ years of experience in electrical design, installation, or maintenance (adjust based on seniority level).
Experience in commercial, industrial, or residential building projects preferred.
Background in power systems, low-voltage systems, or industrial automation is a plus.
Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of electrical codes and standards (NEC, IEC, IEEE, NFPA).
Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, Revit MEP, DIALux, EasyPower).
Solid understanding of power distribution, protection systems, and grounding/earthing design.
Familiarity with low-voltage systems (fire alarm, CCTV, access control, structured cabling) is advantageous.
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.
Certifications (Preferred)
Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent (advantageous, depending on region).
Certifications such as NFPA 70E, IEEE, or manufacturer-specific training are a plus.
Soft Skills
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and work under tight deadlines.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality.
Work Environment
Combination of office-based design work and on-site supervision/inspection.
May require working in construction environments, plant rooms, or near live electrical equipment (with appropriate PPE and safety training).
Occasional travel to project sites may be required.
